![]() ![]() Some firearms have forged hammers, some are just a casting, machined steel or stainless. I don't know of any firearm that has an heat treated/case hardened hammer, but that's not to say that there are none. Not sure how the bolt would handle this over time. A forged hammer would reduce this wear, but then the bolt would have to absorb all the energy. Also, the bolt engages the hammer pretty low, where it is the most difficult to cock the hammer due to shorter leverage, which puts even more wear on the hammer. View QuoteThe hammer and bolt geometry in the Scorpion and the way/area they engage causes this abnormal wear on the hammer, the hammer also bounces several times against the bolt while the bolt cocks the hammer after firing. It could be attributed to the newness of the weapon and mags and just need some break in period, but I see that most people have no issues with the Evo or Magpul mags. I am going to try some 30Rd CZ mags and some PSA mags and see if I have the same issue. There was also wear on the hammer and bolt near the firing pin that looked excessive for having less than 500 rounds through it. I also noticed a gap between the trigger housing and the receiver at the takedown pin, but I'm not sure if this is normal. ![]() The Magpul mags also will not seat on a closed bolt. The casing would get stuck in the chamber, and be between the bolt face and barrel. I'm wondering if friction from the bolt travelling rearward on the mag is causing the eject issues. When I was cleaning it at home, I noticed rub marks on all of the magpul mags on the right feed lip towards the back. I then shot the 2 CZ mags, (115 and 124) with no issues. The second trip, I had no issues for the first 2 mags, but then intermittent eject failures for the next 5 (all Magpul, 115g). After I bought it, I shot 4 mags (2 Magpul, 2 CZ) of 124g Nato with no problems. I recently took my new Evo to the range after I had the Shooters Element trigger job (great trigger BTW), and I had a number of failure to eject issues. ![]()
